Social Science with Specialisation Social Science
Learning to understand people and the world around us.Why choose IEGS?
We welcome all students. But those who tend to flourish in this programme are: students who are intellectually curious; who ask questions; who are interested in ideas; who want to find out things for themselves; who ask more questions; who embrace a challenge; who like to form an opinion; who listen to the opinions of others; who ask more questions; who are prepared to change their opinion; who show a restless desire to learn more about the world around them; who demonstrate a determination to develop their skills; who are willing and motivated to help those around them do the same. Great people, basically.
How do we teach?
There is no single teaching style. Those teaching on the program collaborate closely to ensure the students are both challenged and supported in their studies. The diversity of the teachers’ experiences, training, backgrounds and interests means that students benefit from a wide range of approaches. Still, ultimately, the teaching is designed and the different courses are planned to help students develop their thinking skills, research skills, communication skills, self-management skills and social skills.
Teachers have a clear structure and plan for courses with set checkpoints that helps keep track of where you need to develop to reach your desired grade.
Where can I go next?
Graduating from IEGS with the Social Science Programme will give you the skills to pursue university studies in Sweden or abroad. If you are looking for a career in archeology, business, criminology, international development, diplomacy, education, journalism, law, politics, psychology, teaching(!), tourism and urban planning, among many others, this is the kind of programme you should be considering.
The Programme
In this programme we aim to empower our students with the knowledge, understanding and analytical skills that allow them to achieve success in a wide range of fields in the modern world. We want our graduate students to be equipped to ask probing questions and seek out nuanced answers to key contemporary issues at both local and global levels. We strive to nurture international mindedness within our school community, encouraging our students to actively and positively engage in the world in all its complexity.
