Earth Day at IEGS

By Editor

Earth Day is coming to Internationella Engelska Gymnasiet. The IEGS earth day is planned for the 27th April and should be a really fun day to raise environmental awareness in the school. IEGS News asked the students involved a few questions.

IEGS News: What is IEGS earth day all about?

We want to show the students that it is easy to be environmentally friendly and give them concrete examples. We also want to be part of a billion acts of green, a global network where organisations and individuals can make a ‘green commitment’, the idea is that ‘real change occurs best when millions of people commit to it with their actions’.

What do you plan to achieve?

We want to inspire people to make new choices and give students new perspectives on what it is to be environmentally friendly. We want to reduce the environmental impact of our everyday lives. We want to show people that one can replace, not remove.

Why is this important?

Because of the current environmental crisis : society is in a massive time of change regarding the way we use resources and energy- we want to bring new and exciting ideas into the school.

How can students and staff get involved?

Participate in the clothes swap, come and grow your own food in a cup, workshops, help to turn off lights, make environmentally friendly choices.
