There's an interesting article in Monday's SvD that's worth reading if you're thinking about applying to university in Sweden this year or if you graduated from IEG before 2003 and are trying to up your grades from gymnasiet.

This is the first year that the government's new point system comes into play. The highest meritvärdet is no longer 20.0, but 22.5 for students who've read advanced courses in math, English and another language.

Unfortunately, not everyone has the chance to get the new extra points. Students who graduated from high school prior to 2003 followed an earlier syllabus and can't get extra points.
