We can't believe it, but summer is finally here, even for all us teachers and staff, but what a year it has been! There has been teaching and learning, Group 4 Projects, Drama Performances, outside speakers, a number of inter house competitions, from x-country, tug of war, debate and one of my favourites pride pinigis. Staff and students have volunteered their time to support those in need. I have been impressed by your generosity for others. I am sure that this year, with all its special circumstances, will add to your special memories of school at IEGS as you reflect on your education in years to come. Remember, each of the circumstances you face, shape you and help mould you into the individual you are to be. Make sure that you are making the most of your opportunities at IEGS and that you are able to learn and gather the skills needed to become the better, not the best version of yourself.
Take time during the summer to be reflective of the academic year that has been. Think about the goals you have set for yourself, the goals you have achieved and the goals you have not yet reached. Has the year been the way you wished it to be - have you been the learner you know you can be. The summer is a time to re-evaluate and think about what you want to achieve next academic year.
Use the summer to rest, eat good food, be outside, be kind to yourself, spend time with family and friends. I recommend reading a book or two over the break. A recommended read is Paulo Coelho’s Alchemist - one of my favourites! If you have read it, read it again there is always something new to help you on your journey. I wish you a restful summer. Be safe.
Enjoy your midsummer, finally looks like a sunny one for us here in Sweden and remember that the school is closed until week 31. So if you have any questions or concerns they will be attended to then, so take this time to really rest!
All the best,
Dr H
