IEGS co-operates with Moderna Museet
Internationella Engelska Gymnasiet (IEGS) has been privileged enough to be selected to co-operate with four other Gymnasiums at Stockholm's prestigious Moderna Museet. This is part of a project called “ZON MODERNA”, which is aimed at gymnasium students.
In conjunction with a major Andy Warhol exhibition a group of four students from IEGS will be working together with well-known Swedish artist, Åsa Cederqvist. Cederqvist was specifically selected for this project because of her skills as a filmmaker for advertising, music videos, musician and of course artist. A lot of her own work and ideas has many parallels to Andy Warhol, his art and videos.
For a period of two months, IEGS students will be working at a studio in Moderna, aptly named The Factory –after Warhol’s famous studio– together with Åsa Cederqvist on various projects related to the exhibition. Some of it will be group work whilst some will be individual work inspired by the content from the exhibition.
In the words and mind of Åsa herself:
“Rummet blir både en verkstad och fabrik, men också en själ där vår verksamhet är något fysiskt som pågår inne i en persons huvud. I vår verkstad är du välkommen att vara den du vill vara fullt ut. Tanken är att låta rummet fungera som en gemensam persona eller alter ego, där alla individer i gruppen med alla dess olikheter fungerar som ett.”
At the end of this project there will be a vernissage at Modern Museet to display their work and efforts on Saturday April 19 from 12:00- 16:00 at Zon Moderna workshop on the second floor.
Finally what makes this project even more unique is that this year is Moderna Museet’s fifty year celebrations!
