IEGS Drama Students to perform The Laramie Project

Facebook Twitter Pinterest Google+ Share

From Wednesday to Friday this week, IEGS third year drama students will be performing at Dramalabbet (östgötagatan 2) for only 50:-. Their performance is The Laramie Project about the murder of Mathew Shepard and what went on in the small town where his murder happened.

The performance is a documentary play. Everything that is said in the play is what was actually said by various people involved in the events surrounding his murder. The lines are not changed.

In December we met with Mathew's parents, Dennis and Judy Shepard. They spoke to us about what happened to their son, about their thoughts on the play and also the work they are doing towards equality, homophobia and racism through the Mathew Shepard Foundation. It was a powerful meeting. It made the story real. The drama students are doing a play about real people, not fictional characters. This homophobic hate-crime happened in Laramie Wyoming in 1998.

Come see the play february 19th, 20th or the 21st at 19:00! You can book tickets by talking to Mr. Junkka. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
