Stockholm was the host city for a full program of triathlon action last weekend. Team IEGS were given a unique opportunity to compete in Sunday's open competition, and two of our second year students also helped the IES company to ensure the smooth running of the event for all the IES schools.

In total 7 staff and 11 students took part in both individual and team relay categories. All competitors enjoyed individual success and showed incredible endurance and determination to compete in the rain, wind, even thunder!

Notable performance included Simon Waserbröt who won the youth individual category and Isabella Hajek who competed in her first full triathlon. The youth team consisting of Karolina Nilsson, Frank Vestano and Louise Larson all competed for the first time in this event too.

Two teams of third years competed in the adult competition and performed exceptionally well, with Oscar Kamph recording an outstanding swim time to give his team Alex Safapay and Tim McDonald the best possible start. The second team including Cobus Botes, Albert Gruziel, Matthijs Geudeke competed alongside them, finishing narrowly in front (by just 5 seconds!)

IEGS staff entered two teams, Mr Maier, Mr Olson and Iron Man Dr Pratt and team two, Mr Foster, Mr Erikson and Mr Jones. The staff team were the fastest team in the IES competition and finished 3rd overall. Mrs Gavin also completed her first Olympic distance triathlon.
