On Tuesday Russell House received an ovation from the Aula audience for their outstanding interpretation of The Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", arranged by Mr Jansson.
"I thought it was amazing," said Mr Hilary Jones, Head of Russell. "It was a great performance and great for House spirit."
"There were some strong performances," said Dr Whiteley, "continuing the recent development of the competition and the professionalism of both the production of the event and its performances."
The final decision was tight, with three houses vying for the top spot.
"Eventually, the decision was given to Russell," explained Dr Whiteley, "on the basis that their performance was not only technically strong, but also encapsulated the ethos of both the competition, a true ensemble where no member outshone any other, where all members worked together and for one another, and where all were equally involved and integral to the final aesthetic product. In addition, these qualities also encapsulate the ethos and strength of the house system at IEGS. A highlight of the year!"
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to the performers and audience for helping to make it such a great event.
