IHC Chess

Chess. 16 pieces. One king, one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights and eight pawns. It is a board game which not only requires intellect, but the ability to think strategically and quick. Chess IHC is without a doubt the most intense inter house competition, as players compete in a classic Berger tournament, in which contestants meet all other contestants in turn.

IHC Baking Competition

On the 26th of January IEGS hosted the first ever Inter House Baking Competition! Students and teachers from all houses were invited to participate, by bringing in homemade baked goods in one or more of the following three categories: Large Cakes, Biscuits & Cookies and Mini Cakes. Our three judges, Ms Dadey, Ms Moses and Ms Constantin, then had the very lucky and enjoyable task of tasting all of the entrees and judging them in the following categories: texture, appearance and of course flavour!

IHC X-Country

The first Inter House Competition of the year had an exciting start escorted with a sunny day. We saw energetic students ready to run, happy walkers and creative third years who dressed up in everything from a duck onesie to wearing a flamingo hat. The cross country run was 5k for both teachers and students to be amused by. As the runners approached the finish line, they were applauded and cheered on by the dressed up students and teachers. IHC Dance

Yesterday one of the most beloved Inter House Competitions took place! The Dance Competition!

IHC Ensemble

Last week we had our IHC Ensemble competition, which is one of the more anticipated events and the one that definitely requires the most practice. Each house puts together their team and chooses a song that they think will bring home the win. It takes weeks of practice, patience and persistence, but the end result is definitely worth all the hard work. This year we had King House performing “Chandelier” by Sia, Russell House performing “The Angel of Small Death” by Hozier, Curie House performing “Take Me Out” by Franz Ferdinand and Pavlov House performing “Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones.

Chess IHC

This year at the Chess IHC there were a total of 54 games played between twelve chess players. We have the results!
