From the Library Blog: World Book Week

World Book Day is a yearly event, celebrated April 23rd, organised by UNESCO as a worldwide tribute to books and reading. According to UNESCO, April 23 is a symbolic day for literature since on that date 1616 both Shakespeare, Cervantes and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega died. Of course we want to celebrate books and reading in our school as well!
Since not all students are in for the actual World Book Day we will celebrate World Book Week, starting tomorrow April 16th. There will be activities both in the library and online.
For example:
- An exhibition of the rare and old books found in the
From the Library Blog - The Nobel Prize in Literature 2020

The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2020 is awarded to an American poet, Louise Glück.
The motivation from the Swedish Academy reads: “for her unmistakable poetic voice that with austere beauty makes individual existence universal”.
Books with poems by Louise Glück are on the way to the library and hopefully available for borrowing before autumn break.

From the Library blog: Three Ways to Practice your Research Skills

Welcome back to school! What a strange year we left behind. In uncertain times people are looking for information to help them understand the world we live in. The Internet and our devices have become even more important in our lives as they are our key to the outside world, not only searching for information and news but these days also replacing physical interaction with other people. The web is full of information and people who want you to listen to them and react to their opinion. It is certainly not the lack of information we are suffering from.
For example, it is very easy to be
Digital Ways to Read Books

It is not at all new, reading books online. 1999, when I did my GYAR project, the new thing was the Palm Pilot, a portable screen that almost looked like what a smartphone looks like now. The talk around town was that this was the new way to read books. My idea was to let friends write stories for a webpage from where you then could download the stories to your Palm Pilot. The project was not a success, since the Palm Pilot was too expensive for anyone I knew to buy.
Fast forward many years, digital reading has exploded. Nowadays almost everyone has a device which you can use to read books

LGBT Books in the Library

As a part of the Pride Day, there will be an exhibition in the library with books with a LGBT theme. LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender.
As natural as it feels for us that the school library could have an exhibition with books that celebrates all kinds of love, it is important to remember that this would not be possible in some parts of the world. In some countries homosexuality is punished with death. But also in Sweden many teenagers and adults feel like outsiders and not accepted for who they are.
Welcome to the library to take a look at the books! I’ve tried to
